YOGA - Slow Flow

Thursday, October 2, 2014, 6:15 pm until 7:30 pm
34 Main Street, Montague, MA

Nadya Tkachenko, our resident Yoga Instructor, who has been teaching 2 yoga classes at the Common Hall this summer (Tuesdays 5:15PM Power Flow and Sundays 9:00AM Core Flow), is adding a third class to her Fall schedule - SLOW FLOW VINYASA YOGA on THURSDAYS 6:15-7:30PM, Levels 1-2-3 - STARTING SEPTEMBER 11th! This schedule will allow some participants to practice more than once a week, and others - to have a choice of the day and the style of class that works best. ABOUT THE THURSDAY CLASS: Vinyasa (or Flow) style of yoga aligns each movement with breath and links all postures in a continuous flow. Seamless sequencing and clear guidance create a fun, safe and supportive space for the practitioner of any level to engage in progressively challenging practice. By working through a Slow Flow Vinyasa, we will gain some benefits that don’t come as easy in a fast paced vinyasa. While this is not necessarily a low level class, it offers a slower pace and longer posture holds, which can be as challenging, if not more so, than working at a faster pace. The class will have an even greater focus on breathing, and a longer time for relaxation and reflection. Through a continuous practice, you will gain strength, increase flexibility, and cultivate serenity. Since we’ll be holding postures a little longer, we can work more on alignment, adjustments and variations - all of which will further benefit and enrich your yoga practice. And, it will still be a great workout! Taking place at a later time in the evening, it will accommodate more working schedules, and will tie in nicely into the time of day when we are looking to slow down, preparing for quality evening rest. Come and enjoy the journey through breathing exercises, meditation, energizing and strength building posture sequences, and deep relaxation! IS THIS FOR ME? This is an all-level class, with plenty of modifications for beginners, and with more challenging variations for advanced practitioners. Some prior yoga experience will benefit but is not necessary. No Pilates experience necessary. If you have recent injuries, please consult your doctor or email Nadya with questions nadyayoga@gmail.com WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Nadya will provide several sets of mats, blocks and blankets, but if you have your own, please bring a mat. Bring a bottle of water, and a sweatshirt for relaxation. WHAT IS THE COST? Drop-in $15 Bundles of 6 classes - $78 ($13 per class, no expiration) Bundle of 12 classes - $144 ($12 per class, no expiration) ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Nadya Tkachenko, a certified Yoga Teacher, received her training in Kathmandu, Nepal, in London, UK and later in Amherst, MA.
