Scandinavian dance

Sunday, May 17, 2009, 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm
34 Main Street, Montague, MA

Scandinavian dances are Third Sundays (September through June) at the Montague Grange, 34 Main Street in Montague Center. This Sunday is Syttende Mai - Norway’s Constitution Day! Join us for Norwegian dancing and we’ll do some Swedish also. Traditional Scandinavian clothing is never required, but just this Sunday, please wear it if you have it! Music for traditional couples dancing will be played by Marilyn Butler, Andrea Larson and friends. Special guest Toby Weinberg plays Hardanger fiddle and fiddle and will lead a wide Norwegian repetoir. Annamarie Pluhar and Gideon Morse teach the dances of Telemark, Norway. Open request dancing follows teaching. All levels of experience are welcome! No partner necessary. Clean, comfortable, low-healed dancing shoes with smooth, non-rubber soles are best. $8 donation suggested.
